New Sensations

It was founded by Scott Taylor, a former rock star musician who decided that adult movies would be far more lucrative than the music business. Inspired by the Gonzo and POV movies that were taking porn by storm in the 1990s, Taylor inaugurated New Sensations with Video Virgins(a series that eventually covered 35 volumes and continued until 1997). As porn changed, New Sensations changed with it, pivoting from pro am movies to couples features, often featuring two of the company’s biggest contract stars (Peter North and Jewel De'Nyle). In 1998, Taylor founded the offshoot label Digital Sin, which focused on a more explicit brand of action.

The company has always worked with some of the industry’s most creative directors, including Paul Woodcrest and Eddie Powell. In 2013, New Sensations welcomed Jacky St. James to the fold. She was the creative behind the Emma Marx movies, a BDSM series that helped New Sensations achieve some of its greatest critical and popular success. Unlike some porn movies, these features have stood the test of time, an aspect that Taylor sees as essential to the company’s way of working. “If you make good product then it has a longer life. Customers know what to expect from your brand,” he told XBIZ in 2013. Thanks to this commitment to crafting good products, New Sensations has received plenty of attention at the XBIZ and AVN adult award ceremonies, with wins dating back to 1995 in most of the major categories. “Our directors strive to make the very best product and it is very rewarding to see that recognized by such a prestigious organization year in and year out,” Taylor said in 2016.
