Inside The Empire Comps - Adult DVD Empire

I know what you're thinking. How hard is it to make a compilation of sex scenes? Just pick some of the more popular stars, find which scenes they did for the studio in question, throw them onto a DVD and sell away. Sadly, that's the way most adult studios do it these days, and as many of you frequent compilation buyers know, they often do a pretty shoddy job.

So, back in 2005 when the powers that be here at Adult DVD Empire gave me the task of putting together a series of exclusive compilation DVDs from the Devil's Films library of porn material, I knew I had to take a different approach than had been done before. Picking the different themes of the five initial comps we released was easy enough - it was the content of each of those compilations that I was most worried about.

How do you find the best scenes from a given studio? Well, quite simply, you sit down and watch them...all of them! For a span of several months, I had one of the most envied jobs in America - I watched porn and got paid for it! Day after day...scene after scene...orgasm after orgasm...I sat and I watched pretty much the entire library of Devil's Films titles that were currently available on DVD at that time. Roughly 1000 titles, give or take several dozen compilations that Devil's had already released on their own. Sure, there were scenes I immediately knew "wouldn’t work" and skipped right by. Others got a healthy dose of the fast-forward button. But many - including all the ones you see on these comps were carefully scrutinized from beginning to end to make sure they were the right "fit". By the end of my months of "research" my mind was a twisted shell of the wholesome form it used to be, but I knew these releases were going to be something special...and fortunately, it didn't take long for customers to spread the word.

The first round of exclusive Devil's Films compilations were such a huge hit, that four of the five are no longer in print (although you can still check all but one out via VOD right here on Adult DVD Empire). The one we kept in print...the one that keeps going out of print again and again (buy all you want, we'll make more!) is All-Time Best Teen - a compilation that has sold so well, it's now the number 6 all-time best selling DVD ever on Adult DVD Empire. That ranks it ahead of such bestsellers as Dream Quest, Briana Loves Jenna and The Fashionistas.

Of course, the first round of comps were such a hit that Devil's Films asked us to do it again. This time we focused on some different fetishes, although the success of the first teen title meant we weren’t going to skip the chance to release All-Time Best Teen 2! Again, the second round of comps were a tremendous success, and soon, other adult studios became interested in working with us on similar exclusive releases.

By this time, other studios were anxious to jump on the band wagon. We worked with Zero Tolerance on three releases and then with Anabolic and Diabolic on a pair of releases showcasing the best scenes from those two sister studios. But then the big challenge came: Wicked Pictures wanted to do a series of comps, and it was our first shot at doing something unique with a studio that specialized in couples-oriented features, rather than gonzo material.

The three volumes of Wicked Legends are perhaps the compilations that I'm the most proud of. They feature every single Wicked Girl signed by the studio (up until the date of release) in some of their best scenes - all presented in chronological order according to the release year of the movie. In other words, these three volumes are essentially a video history of the work that Wicked Pictures has done over the years.

We used roughly the same concept for our three volumes of The Vivid Girls as we did for our Wicked comps, although sadly Vivid would not give us permission to use any footage with Tera Patrick, so that's the one Vivid Girl missing from those three volumes. Still, they prove to be a great history of the material Vivid Pictures has produced.

After the work with Wicked and Vivid, it felt like time to do gonzo comps again, and our next few round of exclusive releases came from Red Light District and Platinum X, followed by three volumes from Third Degree FIlms. We then got the chance to work with Vouyer Media on a trio of titles - and since Vouyer shoots all their stuff with HD cameras, we thought this was the perfect time to produce three compilations that were anamorphically enhanced for viewers who own 16x9 television sets.

Adult DVD Empire's latest exclusive compilations are three volumes from Digital Sin. No specific theme this time around, just three DVDs loaded with the best material we could find from the studio. As always, we hope customers enjoy watching these comps as much as we enjoyed putting them together!
