She's originally from Texas, but don't expect this southern girl to be the shy and modest type. When Jessica was in college, she met some people who were involved in the porn industry. The idea of joining the business appealed to her, so she decided to try it. In addition to shooting for every single major porn company, she has also starred in movies for HBO and Cinemax, both well known for their permissive standards in terms of adult content. As of 2017, Drake is a long-time Wicked contract star, and also writes and directs for them.
Jess has always been a bisexual slut. She loves hanging out and fucking girls probably more than she likes hanging out with guys. Now Jessica has measurements of 34C-24-33, enhanced by breast augmentation surgery she got at age 21, before she even joined the porn industry. Before porn, she was a stripper, hoping to pay off her college debt.
In an industry rarity, Drake seldom shoots porn scenes without a condom. She did shoot a few with no condom with her partner at the time, but that was an unusual exception. She does it because when she feels the safest that way -- she can really relax and let loose to give one of her amazing and memorable performances.

Interviews
Interview With Jessica Drake - February 24, 2006
Phone Interview
PornstarEmpire.com: So, how long have you been at Wicked Pictures now as a Contract Girl?
Jessica Drake: Well, I have just completed my first three-year contract, and as a matter of fact I'm in the process of renegotiating my deal right now, so it's really exciting. Everything I could have ever asked for I found at Wicked. I'm really happy with them and I'm really happy to be staying with them...we're just working out the little details.
Q: A few years ago it seemed like you were the new kid on the block at Wicked, and now you're one of their "senior" performers...and I mean that in the nicest of ways!
Jessica Drake: I really like the fact that I've been there for three years. Any girl, when she first signs a contract - the studios are not as likely to do big things with you right away. There's always a period of adjustment...they wanted to find my strengths as well as my weaknesses to realize how they should take advantage of those things.
Q: Lets talk a little about Curse Eternal. I know it's one of the bigger productions of the year for Wicked. Can you tell us a little bit about the story and the character you play?
Jessica Drake:Curse Eternal is one of those pivotal movies that I've done for Wicked. The other two were Fluff and Fold and The Collector. A lot really went into Curse Eternal. I play a character named Samantha Stewart, an archeologist who is following in the footsteps of her father. Randy Spears plays my father, and the beginning of the movie is shown in flashback and he is discovering a tomb and is killed in doing so. Then we jump forward to my adult life. They're reopening the tomb and I go there to investigate. In doing that, it sparks a whole chain of events with Kaylani Lei. This was her last movie with us, and I'm really, really fortunate to have gotten a chance to work with her. She plays Queen Neferkala, and the whole movie revolves around reincarnation. It's a really interesting concept. I did a scene at the end of the movie that is really cool in the way that it's shot - with Eric Masterson, who plays my boyfriend in the movie, myself and Kaylani Lei as Queen Neferkala, and also Eric Masterson as Nomron, who was the Queen's lover in ancient times. So it was really awesome to do this movie. The art direction was beautiful and Brad Armstrong did an incredible job with the script. We were fortunate enough to have the King Tut exhibit here in Los Angeles when we were shooting the movie, so a lot of Egyptian artifacts were pretty easy to find. The only problem that we were having was when we would go to some of the bigger prop houses to rent the really big things, apparently our governor was throwing a big Egyptian party during the exhibit, so we were wrestling back and forth. That was the challenging part, but the rest was really cool.
Q: You already mentioned you have a scene with Eric and Kaylani. Can you give us an idea of what other performers you'll be having sex with in the movie?
Jessica Drake: I have two orgy scenes. I work with just about everyone from Kris Knight to Brad Armstrong to Ice LaFox. Gia Jordan's in the movie. I also do a scene by myself with Eric.
Q: Can you give us an idea of what Brad Armstrong's like as a director as opposed to some of the other directors you have worked with?
Jessica Drake: I think that there are several things that he offers. He definitely has a real artistic vision. When he writes a movie, he envisions the whole thing...exactly what he wants the finished product to look like. He's very driven, and he knows what each individual person is capable of, and he knows how to get it out of them. Obviously, you don't treat every performer you have the same way...you learn how those people work, and how to get them to do their best job. I think he's really good at getting everybody's best performance out of them.
Q: As a contract girl, you basically perform in two different kinds of movies - the adult feature and then the all-sex/vignette type of film. Do you have a preference between the two?
Jessica Drake: Actually, my preference combines the two. For instance, the movie I did called The Collector, as well as the sequel called Sold...what I like is a really beautiful set-up, beautiful location, beautiful wardrobe...things like that. And then I like filthy, dirty sex! So I'm a feature girl who likes gonzo sex...the nastier the better. So it's a mix of both. I really like to work on my acting ability, because when I won Best Actress last year at AVN for Fluff and Fold - that was really something to me...to know that people are actually watching the entire movie instead of just the sex. But, then again, I also won Best Oral Sex Scene - Film for The Collector, so I guess I like to spread myself around.
Q: Do you have any favorite actors or actresses you really enjoy working with?
Jessica Drake: I like so many different people. Girl wise, I'm really into Lauren Phoenix - whom I'm going to be working with in this movie I'm shooting this week. Ashley Blue, Taylor Rain...I had the biggest crush on Taylor, and unfortunately now she's retired! I like working with Lezley Zen an awful lot. I loved working with Sydnee Steele. Julia Ann is one of my favorite girls. And now we've got Kirsten Price and Carmen Hart, who are really cool too. Carmen is borderline violent in bed! She's a lot of fun! Guys...I think Brad Armstrong, Herschel Savage, Steven St. Croix, and Randy Spears...we just signed Randy to a contract, so I really enjoy working with him.
Q: Given the amount of movies you've done, I'm not sure if you'll have an answer to this question or not...but are there any fantasies or sexual scenarios you'd like to do on camera that you haven't been able to yet?
Jessica Drake: Absolutely. I want to be in an elevator, and I want the elevator to get stuck between floors, and I want to bang everybody in the elevator. And that's something I've actually been talking about a lot lately. I'm pretty sure that it's going to happen.
Q: So is this a fantasy that you have in your personal life that you'd like to live out in one of your movies?
Jessica Drake: Yes, and my movies are a great outlet for that. I've done that quite a bit before. For example, I've always wanted to try multiple guys...I'd never done that, not even in my personal life...and so that's where the three-guy blowjob (from The Collector) came in. It gives me a way to kind of test the waters.
Q: Some of your fellow Wicked Girls have gotten into writing and directing movies...is that something you'd like to pursue?
Jessica Drake: Well, last year I started writing a little bit. The only thing with me and writing is I'm very creative, but I don't take direction in that area. I can't have someone tell me "I need a script about a race car driver that falls in love with a country girl" - I can't write that on assignment. I write when I am specifically moved by something. But I do write, and I do think I would like to direct. I've been given the opportunity and it's something that I'm thinking about. But I think I'd rather do all-sex movies...I think I'd rather direct vignettes or higher-end gonzo. I don't think I have the patience to direct a feature, because I know first-hand the work that goes into it. It's just such a huge responsibility and a huge job. I also have some interest in shooting (still) cameras. Over the past two or three years, I've photographed a ton of my girlfriends and it's something that I'm really interested in. Again, maybe more as a hobby instead of having an assignment to go and shoot someone.
Q: You mentioned at the beginning of our interview how you're currently in renegotiation of your Wicked contract. Have you given any thought to just how much longer you want to perform in front of the camera, and what you might like to do after you stop performing?
Jessica Drake: Well, what I'm thinking about right now is just that...how long I want to stay in front of the camera. I don't ever want to look back on my career and say "ooh...maybe I should not have still been in front of the camera!" I think that's something that I'm going to take on a per-project kind of basis. I don't want to commit myself to five years and then three years into it my body suddenly falls apart! It's not that I think that's going to happen, but I would just like to take all of that into consideration before I put a specific number on record. I would always like to have something to do with the adult industry, because I have really gotten a lot out of it. In my personal life, and obviously in my business life - I've made a name for myself and financially I've done really well. It's been good to me, so I would like to just continue to "hang out"...in whatever venue yet I'm not to sure.
Q: You've certainly become one of the more recognizable adult stars currently in the industry. How often to you get recognized in public, and what have those experiences been like for you?
Jessica Drake: How often I get recognized in pubic depends on what I'm wearing, and if I'm in hair and make-up or anything like that. If I'm in hair and make-up, I get recognized on a daily basis, no matter where I'm going. I find that airports, because there's such a diverse group of people in one spot, that I get recognized constantly. I've also been recognized in a Laundromat! I'm remodeling my house, and I don't have a laundry room right now. So, a couple of months ago, I took all my stuff to the Laundromat, because I love doing laundry...that's how Fluff and Fold came about. I love the Laundromat! So I'm in the Laundromat, and I'm in a track suit with no make-up on and my hair in a ponytail - and three guys come in and they start snickering and pointing. And one comes up to me and says "Man, you really like the Laundromat!" And the other guy goes "Fluff and Fold!" And I thought it was the funniest thing! But generally speaking, they're all really positive experiences. Over Christmas, I was actually in Hawaii, and I saw a guy in a shopping mall who pretty much followed me around and didn't say anything. And just when I thought it could have gotten creepy, he notices that I know he's there and he goes "I'm so sorry, I'm a really big fan and I just wanted to look at the way you look in real life. You're so beautiful. So many people look great on camera and you see them in real life and they're scary. But you just look so cute!" And I think we had the whole "puppy thing" going on! It's cool though...it just shows me that all the effort that I've put into my job is worthwhile.
Q: And what about hobbies and interests? What do you like to do when you're not working?
Jessica Drake: I cook! I cook all the time. I made this berry cake last night that was outrageous. I'm a big Williams-Sonoma fan - the kitchen store. I take cooking lessons when I can, but that's more for technique, because I think basically if you can read and you're creative you can cook. I do yoga. I go to the spa. I'm a "girl" at the spa - I like all that hair, and nails, and massages, and facials...all that good stuff. And, of course, I like to shop. And I'm a big reader...I read just about everything I can get my hands on - from newspapers to magazines to just about everything. I was just reading an article in Newsweek about tracing our genealogies, and I'm really into that right now.
Q: Well Jessica, I don't want to take up too much of your time, but I did want to give you a chance to tell us about any upcoming appearances, movies and what's new over on your website.
Jessica Drake: Well, Women On Top just came out and it's directed by Michael Raven, and I'm the lead in that movie, and it's basically a role reversal movie - the women wear the pants in the world and the guys are more submissive and subservient. It's a really funny movie. I'm doing a Wicked Showcase at Club Fantasies in Baltimore with Carmen Hart and Julia Ann, and that's going to be happening March 15 through March 18th. I am doing some work right now on my website...I had a family loss a while back, and as a result have completely neglected by website, and I've been shooting new content for that lately. So watch for the big re-launch!
Interview With Jessica Drake - April 9, 2005
On The Set of <I>Sold</i> In Los Angeles, CA
PornstarEmpire.com: There seems something different about you lately. Did you get a new shirt or something... ?
Jessica Drake: [laughs] No, I washed my Wicked Shirt in too hot water and then I dried it too many times and it shrunk. No. My boobs got bigger. Yeah.
Q: How much bigger and why?
Jessica Drake: I needed some re-constructive surgery on the right hand one, and I wasn't going to go through all that trouble and all that drama without having bigger boobs. So I told the doctor to, um, basically give me big boobs. I gave him the discretion to make them as big as he chose. And, um, I'm a "D". They're not too much bigger than they were before.
Q: Now... how does it feel to have bigger boobs?
Jessica Drake: [laughing] I never thought I would be doing an interview just on having bigger boobs!
Q: The public wants to know...
Jessica Drake: It's really funny because when I was growing up I was always very flat-chested. I never had boobs. Ever. In the sixth grade I was as tall as I am right now and much, much skinnier with no boobs. So I always wanted boobs. When I got them done the first time I went to a doctor who wasn't very good which is why I had to go and get this reconstruction. When I woke up with really big boobs all I could think was, I HAVE BIG TITS. It is actually kind of cool. I put on a bikini a month or so ago, and I was bitching because it didn't fit me. Someone said, oh, no that's how they are supposed to fit. You just didn't have big boobs before. It's great. I like it a lot. Although I understand the whole big boobs equals back pain now. I didn't get that before. They absolutely make my back hurt. I like 'em though!
Q: What else is new in the life of Jessica Drake?
Jessica Drake: I am about to go to Australia for Wicked. I am really excited about this movie we are shooting today. It's kind of a sequel to The Collector. We shot The Collector on film, this movie is being shot on film as well. My character, Cynthia, is continued into this movie. She's basically moved on from her business relationship she's had with Malcolm, played by Mike Horner. We actually get together in a way in this movie. We put together a sex auction for the very wealthy people that want to take part in it. They are basically bidding on sexual experiences. I am really excited about it. We have three scenes in this movie. We are going to do two of them today. The first one we are going to suspend me from the ceiling and tie me up, and then I have a sex scene with Tommy Gunn. I've only worked with Tommy in Eye of the Beholder briefly in a orgy scene, and in One Man's Obsession - which was just released by the way, you should see it, it is really good - and I did a blowjob with him in One Man's Obsession. That's all - so today should be really fun because we get to do a full sex scene after he lets me down off the ceiling. Later on tonight I'm going to do a solo girl masturbation in a phone booth in the rain outside, and that in turn turns into me, after servicing myself, going on to service several other men afterwards. Should be very exciting!
Q: Sounds like you have a busy day ahead of you.
Jessica Drake: I have a very busy day ahead of me. We are going to be shooting over the next couple days too. Tomorrow should be really cool. We are going to shoot the interior of the auction scene, and then the rest of it will be shot the following day. I'm actually doing a Pony Girl scene as the last scene in the movie and I am working with Brad Armstrong and Keri Sable. This scene should bring down the house. It's going to be really good. I've wanted to bone Keri for a really long time. She's so hot! We are going to dress her up like a pony and make her prance around!
Q: Talking about sexual fantasies... Do you have sexual fantasies anymore? Are you all out? Or do you have one, write it down, and then give it to Brad [Armstrong]?
Jessica Drake: Absolutely! That's actually how Fluff and Fold came about. I really wanted to bone in a Laundromat, and I went to him and we were just talking about movie ideas, and I have a long list of things I would like to do. Whether it's a particular place to have sex, or a person to have sex with, or a way to have that sex. But definitely the Laundromat came from that. In The Collector, the three-guy blowjob was actually one of my fantasies. That was one of the first multiple guy scenes I've ever done. I've never had sex with two guys at the same time, or three guys at the same time, or anything like that. The closest I've come are the blowjobs I've done. Once I get comfortable with that I would really like to do a D.P. with two guys. I really would. But it's a matter of comfort. I, unlike a lot of people, only do things on camera that I really want to do. I think that's the secret to be okay with it in your own head, in your own body. At least that's how I work. For me to be comfortable in the business I only fuck who I want to fuck, and I only want to do what I want to do.
Q: Now why are you going to Australia?
Jessica Drake: I am going to Australia for the big expo there. I will be in Lorne in Victoria. Should be really cool.
Q: This your first time in Australia?
Jessica Drake: Yeah. I've been to New Zealand a bunch. I like to dive so I am looking forward to it.
Q: What other hobbies do you have besides scuba diving?
Jessica Drake: I really like the scuba diving thing. Everytime I go on vacation I try to do that. I like yoga, I like to be outside a lot. I like to hike. Basically I really like to be outside. I'm not like "nature girl hippie chick" but I like the elements. I like being outside a lot. I'm into massage. I go to spas a lot. And like any girl I love to shop. I'm a chick when it comes to that stuff.
Q: Where do you like to shop? What do you like to shop for?
Jessica Drake: Oh, I'm relentless. I like it both ways. I like going to Rodeo Drive and buying all the trendy things you see on TV. But I also like to scour the Rose Bowl Flea Market. It is really cool. It only happens once a month. I just love looking at cool stuff. I'm a mix. I can go anywhere. I can eat at the greatest restaurant in Beverly Hills or I can go to Weinerschnitzel.
Q: How do you enjoy buy a contract girl with Wicked Pictures?
Jessica Drake: I can honestly say I have never been around people like this in the adult business. Steve O. [Orenstein] is a great inspiration and he has done everything with me he's said he would. I have already gotten so much publicity, so much exposure, so many great movies, I won two AVN Awards, I was nominated for ten. That's huge. I never, never expected that. They sent me to the Grammys. I walked the red carpet, I did the whole red carpet interview... I got phone calls who watched it on David Letterman and it was just amazing at the time.
Q: Where do you want to go from here? What do to you want to do?
Jessica Drake: I have one more year on paper with Wicked but I have an understanding that I will stick around for another two to three years after that. I've written a few scripts, I don't know that's what I want to do. I've done a little pre-production on movies and I have seen the work that goes into that. I really like that a lot. I like art direction. I'm leaning towards stuff like that.
Q: And your website?
Jessica Drake: You can see more of me at JessicaDrake.com or WickedPictures.com
Interview With Jessica Drake - October 30, 2002
On The Set of "About A Woman" in Los Angeles, CA
PornstarEmpire.com: Now you made a bit of news this year when you ended your contract with Sin City. What provoked that move?
Jessica Drake: I had been with Sin City for two years, and my first year not everything happened the way it was supposed to. We talked a lot before I re-signed for my second year, and I really think that they had a lot of good intentions. The end of the second year was approaching and I went to them and said I would not be renewing my contract. Unfortunately, I don't know if it was due to a publicist writing, or what, but the way it was announced on their end was not very flattering. Not at all. And [I] got into a bit of a tussle with AVN because they went to us to get both sides of the story. What should've been said is that it was mutual, and that was that.
Q: What's it like not being under contract?
Jessica Drake: Fun! Fun. [laughs] I feature dance a lot, and I have a lot of other things I am involved with right now. I am a spokeswoman for the Erotic Pleasures network... I travel around a lot for them. I do some print work. I do some softcore, borderline mainstream work. No, I'm not aspiring, or anything like that. I'm just trying to do a lot of things and see what it is that I truly enjoy. I feature dance. I am on the road a lot. It's very hard for me because in this business companies aren't always planned out two months in advance. Sometimes they don't know when they are going to be shooting, or were they are going to be shooting, or what they have to offer me. But it is fun because I do get to work for a variety of people.
Q: Would you ever consider signing with another studio as a contract girl?
Jessica Drake: I would consider signing with another company. I haven't really explored those options right now. There are some really good things, and really not so good things about being under contract. I really enjoy the freedom of being able to work for whomever I choose. That's really great -since at Sin City I was starting to feel like the redheaded stepchild. It's like every one was going, 'Oh, its time to do another Jessica Drake movie, who can we get to direct it?' I don't like for it to be that way. I've been able to pick and choose my own projects, and kind of get together with directors and give them my ideas and get positive feedback in return. The health insurance is great. Being on salary is wonderful. Certain other things that you can have written into contracts that didn't exactly work for me. Sin City never developed a website for me, but it was in my contract that they were supposed to... Now I have a site of my own, jessicadrake.com. It's so good. [laughs] Another shameless plug. But I think in the long run I would probably end up having a contract.
Q: Last I remember you were engaged to be married...
Jessica Drake: We got married four, almost five, months ago.
Q: So, enquiring minds want to know, what is it like being married to Evan Stone?
Jessica Drake: I get "The Evan Stone Show" twenty-four hours a day. He's really incredible. We're really happy, and I think I am really happy to have found someone like him. If it wasn't for him, and the security of us getting married and our relationship I don't think I would've come as far in the business.
Q: What is it like trying to maintain a married relationship in the adult film business?
Jessica Drake: It varies on the individual couples, I'm sure. But the only real problem we have is not having enough time for us to spend together. I mean, I don't take him on the road with me, it would be like financially slitting our throat. But if I were to take him on the road with me... Not very long ago I was on the road for five weeks at a time... Maybe we might kill each other. Being in closed up hotel rooms and nightclubs night after night might be very taxing on a relationship I'm sure. But we both give each other a lot of freedom and a lot of support. And I love to watch him fuck other women. [laughs] I don't know, call me crazy.
Q: What do you do when you aren't doing this? When you aren't dancing, aren't working. What are your hobbies?
Jessica Drake: When I'm not doing this I'm . [laughs] I really enjoy yoga a lot. I try to do things that keep me calm so I can actually relax and enjoy a day off. Evan's really big into the gym. I'm more of an outdoor person. I'd rather go get my exercise outside. I like to go shopping. I really like to stay at home on the couch and watch DVDS. Make big, home cooked meals and eat until you're so full of food you can't move.
Q: Do you watch adult movies?
Jessica Drake: Oh yes. "I watch me some porn"! I'm a big pervert I guess. I'm always on the porno websites. I just really like to stay on top of what everyone else is doing. We went to France last year, and it was really weird because I was turning on porn and not knowing people. Which was really kind of refreshing. Because I wasn't watching going, oh, I know her, and I know his problems, and I was on set when I got into a fight.
Q: What are the things you enjoy most about the adult film world?
Jessica Drake: There are three. I've been asked this question so many times. It's the attention, number one. The money and the sex. I don't know what order money and sex are because it goes back and forth sometimes in order of importance. If I'm really horny, obviously, it's the sex. Those are the top three reasons. Those are the most exciting things about it. The fact that I can have great, commitless sex with someone, and then part company. You know it's safe. I'm condom only. I see the AIDS test. I only work with people that are on my list. I only do things that are within my comfort level. I get to come, go, get paid. Whew! What gives me the biggest rush is when I meet fans. I didn't realize how many I had until my website started.
Q: Would you ever consider going behind the camera to direct?
Jessica Drake: Yeah, Evan and I have gone and done a couple movies on our own. I helped him direct one called "Fetish Nation" which Sin City put out. I got a taste for it. Then we did another movie called "Touched For The Very First Time" - I didn't pick the title, the investors picked the title - and it was really an experience. I've been playing photographer a lot recently to our girlfriend, whose name is Dolorean. She just got into the business. I'm really enjoying taking pictures, and we are kind of considering exploring that a little bit.
Interview with Jessica Drake - June 28, 2002
On the Set Of "Girl Talk" in Los Angeles, CA
Jessica Drake: Did you make it out to the Hercules shoot?
Interviewer: Part of it. I went to the bad day.
Jessica Drake: Oh you did?
Interviewer: I got lost!
Jessica Drake: A lot of people did, and a lot of people were calling me, because Evan was on it and they thought I would know where it was... Evan and I are getting married so...
Q: Oh wow, that's exciting. An industry romance... so how did you get started in the industry?
Jessica Drake: The first anything I did in the industry was for Michael Raven, it was a solo-girl tease in his movie Pretty Girls for Sin City. I was airbrushed like a tiger, it was really cool. It was just like soft tease and a little bit of masturbation, but not too much because I had really long claws on...
Q: Could be detrimental.
Jessica Drake: True. And then my first boy-girl, I actually shot before my first girl-girl that was in a movie called Modern Love. I worked with Alec Metro. But in the same movie I did girl-girl with Alexa. They also got my first anal... because in my contract I kinda slid that in there... what a funny thing to say about anal... just kinda slid it in. My first anal scene was for a movie called Beast that Michael Raven directed.
Q: So you were saying something about anal in the contract?
Jessica Drake: Yeah, I agreed to give Sin City my first anal scene.
Q: How'd that work out for you?
Jessica Drake: It was so much fun. I was so scared.
Q: Wait, was it your first time having anal sex or?
Jessica Drake: No, just my first time having it on-screen.
Q: Okay, just cause you're saying you were so scared?
Jessica Drake: Well yeah, because it's a really big deal and girls consider it a super big deal and get really nervous... especially for anybody's first anything on camera.
Q: Well sure.
Jessica Drake: First time, first time with a girl, first time with a boy, every new first is like that whole ordeal all over again. It can be very intimidating. I would never try something on camera that I had not already attempted in the privacy of my own home. Just a general rule.
Monique Alexander [chimes in]: I broke that rule.
Jessica Drake: Did you? Oh yeah, the dildo thing, huh?
Monique Alexander [chimes in]: No, I never did a girl until on camera.
Jessica Drake: Well, that's not my fault, believe me. Believe me. Had you met me first, you would be very well versed in the art of women. [laughs] Anyway, we had practiced before the anal thing and I was still very nervous the day of the shoot. But once we got going it was fun and I was smiling through the scene and I watched the scene like right when it was in editing - I went in to see it, and it was beautiful... it was really nice. I mean, it's not like big, gaping, gooey buttholes - it's really pretty. It's beautiful, it's loving...
Q: It's pretty non-gaping, non-gooey?
Jessica Drake: Yeah, yeah, yeah. More of a loving couple sex scene that just happens to have anal sex in it. It was nominated for best anal scene at the AVN Awards. So I find that to be amazing.
Q: Were you flattered?
Jessica Drake: Yeah! My first anal scene was actually nominated... my only anal scene to date.
Q: It was your only anal?
Jessica Drake: Yeah, you can't just give it away.
Q: What's it like... you were talking about nervousness doing something new on-screen... is there an element of stage fright?
Jessica Drake: Oh there's always an element of stage fright... even with dialogue. With some really heavy-duty dialogue on a bigger movie I will still get nervous. Right before the director says action, I still get that moment of anxiety, and then once I get kicking I'm fine... I'm also the same way on stage.
Q: Do you dance a lot?
Jessica Drake: I feature dance now. I started doing it almost a year ago. I have 150 adult movies out and I've been in a bunch of magazines, so I thought it was about time.
Q: 150 in 3 years?
Jessica Drake: Yeah.
Q: Damn
Jessica Drake: I was very busy.
Q: What's an average workweek like for you?
Jessica Drake: Well, Monique's laughing because she's in from Sacramento staying at my house and she never sees me. It varies a lot, but I've noticed lately that... well, I have three days off this month. Tomorrow was supposed to be one of them, but I just found out I have a meeting I have to be at.
Q: Oh my god...
Jessica Drake: It just happened that all this work got lined up at one time. I still do magazine shoots. I'm still under contract for Sin City and that means I do appearances and book store signings, and I feature dance, and on top of that I'm a spokeswoman for The Erotic Networks. Pleasure Ten, ATC, Gonzo, Gonzo-X, True Blue, Pleasure Island... all their channels. So I have dish, so I get TEN, Pleasure, and Ecstasy online. So I do trips and stuff for them, and it's just like gosh I do a lot. Plus I do a little bit of mainstream like Linique and Playboy TV shows, and stuff like that. I work all the time.
Q: Three days off in a month...
Monique Alexander [chimes in]: She is not kidding.
Jessica Drake: No, I'm not kidding at all. This month is a little different, though.
Q: What would it ordinarily be like?
Jessica Drake: If it wasn't as hellacious as this month has been, it's usually two or three weeks dancing on the road, one contract movie, and maybe?
Q: Wait, per month?
Jessica Drake: Yeah.
Q: Oh my god...
Jessica Drake: Well, that's what is average, because they kind of got a slow start this year. So in order to keep the pace. Plus... like this is not my movie, this is Monique's contract movie that we're shooting today. I just happen to be in it?both days and for two sex scenes, but it's not my movie.
Q: So it doesn't count the same?
Jessica Drake: No, they pay me per scene, just to be in it. Well, it's just because I had to. I just had to be in Monique's movie! It's her first contract movie! I was like, yeah, I rearranged my whole entire schedule to be in this movie. But usually, I shoot once a month, if it's not a contract movie it's somebody's movie over at Sin City. Maybe now we'll shoot two a month since Randall shoots me a lot.
Q: So you came from San Antonio?
Jessica Drake: Yeah.
Q: What brought you out here?
Jessica Drake: Actually, I was living in El Paso when I met Michael Raven. I wanted to feature... I wanted to be a feature dancer.
Q: Were you dancing in El Paso?
Jessica Drake: Yeah, my ex husband runs strip clubs, so I was pretty much always around it. I wanted to be a feature dancer... one of the girls who they pay just to show up. So I saw a bunch of them and if my club didn't have one I'd go somewhere and see one and I was looking at them and thinking, "Oh, I can do that." And a lot of times I thought I could do a better job. So I called the agency that I'd heard of... I didn't know what I was doing. And they said, well we're having a contest at this club why don't you go there and meet these people. They were worried that if I sent pictures maybe I wouldn't look like the pictures... they wanted to see me in person. So I went and I met with this person, and I showed her nude photos of myself that I had taken, y'know pretty casual photos that a friend had taken, and she took one look at them and she left the room. I'm all "Okay, maybe I was totally wrong, never mind." She came back, though, with Michael Raven and he talked to me and he was like "I'm in the adult industry, I think maybe you should consider doing movies and magazines." I wasn't too sure about the idea, but I ended up hanging out with him and the crew that he had there in El Paso covering this contest, and they were like "You should come back to LA in our motor home" and they had rented a big motor home and had all these people in it?taking a big road trip and they were shooting in it, too. And I was like "Oh these people are gonna kill me, they're gonna drop my body in the desert, I'll politely pass on this." But I hung out with them all week long, and in the end after I had hung out with them and talked to them I came to LA in that motor home. Of course, I didn't just pick up and leave El Paso or anything like that, the idea was to commute like Monique's doing right now. So the plan was I do two weeks here, two weeks at home?back and forth. I had a house, two cars, I had a ton of friends that I really didn't want to leave. But it got to where I was working so much here... and I'd get back there and I felt like an alien... I mean, I really did, because once people started figuring out exactly what I was doing, they have no frame of reference. They don't know. And they're like, porno?! And they're envisioning some seedy hotel with some addict holding a video camera in a shaky hand... y'know, they had no idea. And now, they're like hey can you hook me up with Ron Jeremy's autograph? How about some free porn? Y'know, whatever. So I ended up moving here... it was somewhat after I did my first boy-girl scene. So I had done everything already. I had done photo shoots, I had done internet work, I had done solo and girl-girl and boy-girl, and I just got too much work here and had to move.
Q: So what's it like back home? Are your friends weird about it or just people in the neighborhood?
Jessica Drake: No, it was my friends. People that I had known for years. People that I had over for Monday Night Football and barbecues. They just didn't know what to say. They weren't condescending...
Q: Just awkward?
Jessica Drake: Yeah, it was awkward. It's not awkward anymore. I don't have a lot to do with them, but when I do they're just like "Yeah I saw you in this magazine and I saw you on this channel on TV" and it's like a big deal to them and I just want it to be normal to them.
Q: What about your family?
Jessica Drake: My dad is terminally ill. He knows what I do but we don't talk about it. He's just glad I don't have to depend on anybody. And I don't speak to my mother at all.
Q: Is that recent?
Jessica Drake: No, that's pretty long. It's been awhile. I'm sure she knows if my father and my brother know. They're not together, my mother and my father, but I'm sure she knows. But we don't talk. But Evan's family has completely adopted me. And all of them know in detail what I do for a living. I just sent Evan's mom my latest issue of Club International. I'm on the cover and I'm on the inside and I'm having sex in there. And I sent it to her with no censoring and no black tape or sticky notes or anything and she's just like "It's very beautiful, especially the pearls!"... which were in my butt. [laughs] I did a layout with Nicole Sheridan and we had beads everywhere, we were like Vegas showgirls and we were sticking them everywhere, sticking them in our butts and in our "cookies", so you know the chain of beads looked like they were going in and out of both of us. It was a really cool idea and they used it as a big picture.
Q: And his mom was impressed?
Jessica Drake: Yeah, actually. I was like "Oooh"
Q: So how's the engagement?
Jessica Drake: We got engaged last Saturday and we're getting married on June 6th. Monique's my bridesmaid.
Q: Where's the wedding going to take place?
Jessica Drake: At an undisclosed location in... not Vegas, we're not gonna get married by Elvis... but we're gonna get married outside, at the foot of a mountain, in a meadow, by a stream. It's really beautiful.
Q: So how did you and Monique meet?
Jessica Drake: Luck.
Monique Alexander [chimes in]: I started working for Sin City and I was at the office and Michael Raven introduced her to me and Evan Stone.
Jessica Drake: I was like "cute girl!"
Monique Alexander [chimes in]: She's the main contract girl, so before signing me they went to her and said "We're thinking about signing her..."
Q: You had to get cleared?
Jessica Drake: Yeah and I said, "Bring it on!"
Monique Alexander [chimes in]: And we've become really close.
Jessica Drake: Yeah, amazingly enough. Because I'm not good friends with women, as a general rule. Yeah, bad experience in the past. But we're like sisters... but different.
Monique Alexander [chimes in]: Yeah, different.
Jessica Drake: Very different. It's weird.
Q: It seems like you're very close.
Jessica Drake: We are.
Q: Do other people in the industry stay at your house when they're in town?
Jessica Drake: No. Never, I have never had any overnight guests and to be quite frank I didn't even think?I was like "Why don't you stay at my house" and then I realized what I said and I thought... that's very natural for me to say that to her. That's a good thing. She's an incredible houseguest. Not a house pest.
Q: Doesn't leave the dishes dirty...
Jessica Drake: No, my dog likes her butt.
Monique Alexander [chimes in]: Her dog gooses me all the time. I'll be walking and I'll just feel this nose up my butt.
Q: Jessica's blaming the dog.
Jessica Drake: It's true.
Interview with Jessica Drake - January 9, 2001
Adult Entertainment Expo 2001 in Las Vegas, NV
Pornstarempire.com: I'm sitting here with Jessica Drake and her award....Where are you from?
Jessica: I'm from San Antonio, Texas.
Q: Why don't you have an accent?
Jessica: Because I went to private school.... Also after San Antonio, I moved around and traveled a lot.
Q: How old were you when you left Texas?
Jessica: ...16.
Q: You went to private high school--did you go to college?
Jessica: Yes, I went to the University of Texas at El Paso and I am a psych major-or I was a psych major. Now I just analyze everybody here!
Q: How did you get started in adult?
Jessica: I was a stripper...while I was going to school. ...I was interested in feature dancing after a while. I called an agency and they told me to go to a...club in El Paso that was having a contest. ...Michael Raven...was covering the contest. (Michael Raven is a director at Sin City.) And he said, "Oh, why don't you come back with all of us to LA in our motor home?" And I'm thinking, "Oh my God, I'm gonna like end up dead in the desert or something. I mean, these people are nuts." But I spent some time with them for the week that they were there. ...And I made the trip in the motor home. I checked out the whole scene.... And I made the decision...that I did want to do porn. ...[Initially] I would try to split my time [between Texas and LA] but it got to where...I needed a residence in LA, so I...moved to California.
Q: What's your favorite part of having sex onscreen?
Jessica: The attention that I get. And knowing that there are people out there getting off on watching me have sex.
Q: Do you think that the viewership of porn is more couples or lonely guys?
Jessica: I think that porn is becoming more acceptable...[or] more spread out due to the internet. I think the number of couples watching now is much greater. ...I would think it's probably an even mix right now of couples and solo guys jacking off and occasionally solo women because I know that I watched porn before I got into the business....
Q: Even at a young age?
Jessica: ...I was about 16 years old and I was like the porn connoisseur....
Q: Do you prefer working with women or with men?
Jessica: I prefer working with a woman and a man at the same time because it's my favorite sexual situation.... But I could not be just a woman because after a while you just need...can I really say what it is? I need a big hard cock to fuck!
Q: ...Do you want to tell me how this transmutes into your personal life?
Jessica: My personal life really wasn't affected until just recently. I've been in the business about two years now and the first year was very easy. None of my stuff was out, nobody knew who I was. I went into a video store with my partner, Evan Stone, and ...there I am. It's a display and it's got me on it. And I turn the boxcover over and I'm fucking people.... I was speechless. I was like, "This is me," and I knew...I was making adult videos, and I knew that they would be released, ...but when I actually saw it...I was amazed. I was like... "So this is the fruit of my action." Then...people started recognizing me.... And I wonder...do I have to go to the grocery store in makeup and hair...? I was in the mall...Christmas shopping...and a guy followed me for like three stores. Finally he came up to me and [said,] "Oh, aren't you Jessica Drake?" And it was the coolest feeling, but it was also a little bit unsettling. The other way it affects my personal life is, sometimes I'll be fucking and I'll turn my head over my shoulder to look for the camera....
Q: I'm sort of interested to hear about your personal life as far as your relationships go.
Jessica: ...In my personal life, I have two significant others, I live with Evan Stone...for two years now, but I also have a girlfriend. ...I'll tell you the story: My parents made me switch high schools...and I ended up going to a public high school. And I was on dance team...I walked into the band room...and it was first day, and I saw a girl who was eating lunch alone and she was so cute. ...I said, "Can I eat lunch with you?" And she said, "Yes," (thank goodness). She became my best friend and one night we together.... The next day...we were appalled. It's not cool to be gay or bi in high school. ...So I've been fuckin her ever since. ...It's been about ten years now.... This girl has been with me throughout everything. She didn't bat an eyelash when I told her I was in porn. She's been totally supportive and I love her....
Q: So you are a three-way relationship?
Jessica: Yes.... Only she lives in Texas. So we're not all cohabitating. I bring her to all the conventions. We see each other at least every other month. ...It's not enough. And She's going to be moving to California.
Q: She'll be living with you?
Jessica: I don't think, at first, because she has kids, and I really need to consider the separation of children and pornography, because I have an office in my house. ...But it's a big enough house. I don't think that the kids need to be swept into a situation like that. I would rather it be a slow transition.... Her kids are like my kids. ...I just want to be really careful....
Q: Why don't you tell me about your award?
Jessica: ...I got an award for Best Tease Performance. And I am so incredibly happy about it. I was just like a little kid last night. I was so excited about all of Evan's awards and nominations that I was just tingly...and they're like elbowing me they're going, "They just called your name!" ...I was astounded.
Q: What's the movie?
Jessica: ...For VCA, called "Shayla's Web". Michael Ninn was the director and Dino Ninn was the cameraman and I need to give special thanks to him, because he did a phenomenal job. He was on the floor, laying on his back and I was straddling his face, dancing.... I had a great time doing it.
Q: Why don't tell us about your latest project?
Jessica: I am a contract girl for Sin City. I signed...exclusive...for eight Michael Raven features a year. It is just a one-year contract right now. We just completed...a modern-day adaptation of "Beauty and the Beast" and I am Beauty and I play...a dominatrix in an S and M dungeon...and Anthony Crane plays the Beast.... The movie shows what lengths a man will go to get his woman.... I do my first anal scene in this movie, and I'm pretty stoked about this coming out...in about two months.
Q: Do you have a website?
Jessica: ...www.jessicadrake.com.
Q: What would you like to do in the future: how long would you like to be in this business; would you like to practice psychology when you're through?
Jessica: Psychology is something I'm practicing on a daily basis with some people. [Laughs.] Right now, I am in front of the camera and I'm feature dancing and I'm spokeswoman for the Erotic Networks. A lot of travel is involved, and I'm really happy with what I'm doing. ...Evan and I have also directed and produced our own movies and we've got three of them under our belt so far.... I'm interested in doing a continuing series of my own.... I persuade unsuspecting girls in titty bars to pee for on camera or to come back to my room and fuck. I carry a ton of model releases with me and I try to get as much exciting stuff as I can. I do a lot of public flashing and I'm gonna put it all on a tape and compile it and see how that goes. This is going to be my first project on my own.... I think that I will be affiliated with the adult industry forever.
Q: What is the biggest challenge facing you...[and Evan] as a couple being in the adult business together?
Jessica: ...The fact that the busier we are and the more successful our careers are, the less time that we have to spend with each other. ...We cannot possibly get enough of each other. That might work to our advantage, though. A lot of couples have a problem with monotony. We obviously don't do the jealousy thing. We just wish we could spend a little more time with each other.
